Topography Lessons in Crimson and Random Thoughts

I just finished having a truly epic sneezing fit, have made myself half-sick from eating too many Cadbury chocolate pieces and am currently writing this post whilst lying on my floor, so I can better hide from the gardener guy outside, who’s been tasked with the Herculean job of taming my houses wretched front and back yard.

So, it’s a good day all in all is what i’m saying.

The Red Mountains, The Red Planet – Odd Inspiration

FablesAndCoffee, the Red Mountains

fablesandcoffee, the Red Mountains
Inspired by Vulcan, wtf can I say?
The red mountains, sleepy fables and coffee

They call it the Red Planet.
Vulcan, that is. Not Mars.
And no one really calls it the red planet but yet, here we are.

Er, anyways, as always inspiration strikes in weird ways for me, and while currently i’m deep in the throes of Hamlet inspired single-mindedness, this piece, and another like it, were made about 2 months ago, before I got sucked under by worthy prose.

If you want to get a good idea of what inspired this series (because at this point I would really call it a series, considering there’s the urge for more redness itching under my fingers) you can give this mix a listen to, it’s something disastrously epic.

Blue Mountains In the Distance- Ideas and Color Inspiration

Spring is fading itself into Summer and i’m caught up between the urge to go traipse through foothills and sketch sketch sketch and being a realist and realizing the actual mountain i’m going to be climbing next month when me and the bf move into our new house. Not to mention I need to start doing some shopping around for a new car (cause mine is an utter piece of wonderful crap thats going to break down any day now) and get myself into gear with regards to a new job and unanswered letters/emails. So basically, wandering around in nature sketching to my hearts content, not gonna happen so much.

At the very least though, I can fill my theoretical wanderlusting on tumblr, living vicariously through the photo sets people post on there. And I can keep drawing mountains till my fingers cramp, so that will have to do for now.

Mountains In My Mind and On My Wrists- Watercolor adventures

watercolor mountains, Fables and Coffee paint and coffee, sleepy coffee and fables watercolor mountains, sleepy coffee and fables watercolor mess, fables and coffee mountains in my mind and on my wrists

I got a new set of brushes and paints almost 2 months ago, but it wasn’t till this last week that I actually got my hands and wrist messy with their color.I can’t say i’m any good just yet, especially considering I mostly work in tones of black and grey and any kind of color work usually kicks my in the face but I’m working on it. I’ve also been listening to more music again as opposed to just mainlining podcasts for hours and hours on end.

Life currently has been going steady. Which is good, usually life for me feels like one whirlwind adventure (or terrible, terrible mistake spiraling into absurdity ) after another. But currently life is steady as it goes and i’m trying to enjoy it, while reading books, eating awesome In & Out burgers, cozying up in sweaters and testing out my new camera lens in the quiet of my home.

Things are gonna get nuts again soon of course, since i’ve got my license/certification renewal coming up, perhaps a small job search after that, I need to figure out what the fudge car i’m going to buy before my current car dies on me and leaves me stranded on some unlit backroad, there’s a crap-load of mail and emails from friends I need to catch up on and figure out how to repair damaged friendships from last year, the bf has started a new job and soon we’ll need to start looking for a new apartment after which we want to start figuring out where we’ll be traveling to (maybe Scotland and Ireland are looking great)… and those are just the things that I know about right nowSo you know, probably i’ll just go ahead and relax a little right now.
