ArtJournal Monday and Buttons Freakin’ Everywhere

I’ve been a bit lax when it comes to working on my art journal. Its not supposed to be “work”,  which I think is part of the problem, that i’ve been tackling my journal like a school project, something to be completed and graded, when truly its the opposite of that.  This is something I started doing because I wanted to have somewhere that I could let my imagination run away, let odd creative urges lead me where ever they wanted. And yet. I’ve been treating it like, “right, so today, lets get 2 pages done at least.” which is the worst possible way to treat this sort of creative  endeavor. art journal in vogue whats that, more buttons you say?Be Kind Sketch Processed with VSCOcam with g2 preset mis amores destructivos

And so, i’ve stepped back. And after floating around tumblr a bit, working on other journals (what can I say, i’m addicted to buying journals!) as well as checking out some fantastic projects that fellow bloggers have been working on ( like this project by blogger Ethereal Solitude ) I came back to it with fresher eyes and more motivation to make this into something that I truly love and enjoy.  Processed with VSCOcam with f1 preset Processed with VSCOcam with c3 presetwrench sketchmore freakin buttons

These pages are ones i’ve done recently, reflections on other projects i’m working on as well as stress relief from some rather tumultuous friendships i’ve been on fence about continuing and in general it’s been a great way to clear my head a bit and think about what direction I’d like to go in when it comes to my art. And that’s what it’s supposed to be about, at least for me. A place to experiment, let out stress and throw buttons around every once in a while.
